I do a lot. Not all of it is important if I am being honest. But that’s ok, being busy does not equal being important. There are so many things in life that you NEED to do that you might not necessarily WANT to do. That’s life, honey. To be able to have your life “together” and do it all, you need to figure out what is really entailed in the “all” part, you know?
For me, doing it all means having a clean, happy home. It means being ahead in school work. It means working out, eating healthy, reading, having fulfilling hobbies and going to bed knowing I did everything I could that day, everything I wanted to do. Realistically, this doesn’t happen every day but having it happen most days is the goal.
Life is never going to be perfect, but you can try your best to make everyday work the best for you and your goals.
The first thing you need to do is make a list of goals, no particular order is required. This allows you to figure out what you want to wok on and what you need to work on. Make sure to include personal, professional, and academic goals.
The next step is to prioritize. What are the top 3 things you absolutely need to get done every day? You can start off small like I did (ex: 1. Make Bed 2. Read 45 minutes not academically 3. Work out for at least 30 minutes) bam, three things to do today that will better me and help me reach my goals.
After you have your goals prioritized, plan your day around them, see where you can squeeze the, in on that particular day. For me, my Monday workout schedule is different from my Thursday, because I have a different class schedule on those days. It just takes time and planning to make sure you stick with what you want to do.
Now that you know-how, you have to mentally prepare. Getting your sh*t together isn’t a done-in-a-day kind of situation. It takes time, it takes self-discipline, and self love. Changing your way of life is a big step, from changing your focus on life to redirecting muscle memory of things you’ve been doing for so long already. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t finish your priorities one day. Life comes at you fast, and adapting and changing plans is the only way to survive. That fact that you have gotten this far in your journey to have it all is a big step. You’ve got this.
