I am a big aesthetic kind of gal. My Instagram pictures have all of the same color schemes, my stories almost always have the same filter on them, and I like to match my profile picture to my highlight reel. My room is very cohesive, I like a certain fungshway.
I believe that making everything in your life aesthetically pleasing and nice to look at, makes me more productive and more aware of how my surroundings make me feel and how my online presence makes me look to others.
Finding an aesthetic is difficult. I am constantly trying out new things and finding the exact combination of things I like, and there IS an aesthetic for everyone. (Take a shot every time you see the word “aesthetic” lol).
Here is how I found my colors, my embodiment of who I am, and the way I want to live:
1. What’s your favorite color?
The first step is as simple as that. My favorite colors year-round are black and red. But during Fall I am more of a burnt orange and dark green kind of vibe, and my Instagram reflects that. During summer/spring I like more of a white and pink thing going on. It is ok to not pick one single color. You can explore how you are feeling and how you want to express that through color.
2. Look up other aesthetics.
There are a lot of pre-existing aesthetics out there, and finding ones that you resonate with is really important in finding your own unique blend. Right now I would consider my overall aesthetic old Hollywood X Academia X Coffee House. Sound like a lot? it is, but once you find the kind of things you resonate with, it will be easier to make your home and life the way you want it to be. I resonate with a lot of different aesthetics outside of my core ones and use those as inspiration for post ideas and room decor or makeup. The possibilities and aesthetics are endless.
3. How will you integrate the aesthetic into your daily life?
How do you plan on showing the world and yourself how you feel? Will you photograph your plants and coffee every morning? Will you teach the world how to do Euphoria style make-up on TIKTOK? It is very fun to get creative and use your aesthetic in a fun way and connect with people who think and feel like you do.
Here are some examples of how I use my aesthetic to be creative every day:
