Things To Do During Social Distancing

Social distancing and the stay-at-home order is a very real reality for pretty much everyone right now. We all have to stay cooped up in our houses, for the greater good. While I understand and respect this process so the Coronavirus doesn’t spread, it doesn’t make it any easier for people who don’t like to stay home all of the time (but you need to. Stay the F inside).

If you’re like me, you’re going a bit stir crazy. Instead of letting the process of self-isolation get me worked up, I made the decision to use this time to better myself. I will never have this opportunity again to just really focus on me, work on my goals, my health, my passions. You should be taking advantage of this time as well. In this post, I will be sharing the things I am doing to work on myself and stay busy as well as other options for how to stay stimulated. Stay safe and stay indoors!

These are just some things you CAN do, do whatever makes you happy and stick to your own schedule if that works for you.

What I am doing:

  • Schoolwork
  • Going on 45-minute walks
  • Yoga
  • Getting my online mixology license
  • Blogging (duh)
  • Instagram pictures from home
  • Trying out random passions (example: personal branding for my friends)
  • Trying out new makeup techniques
  • Cleaning out my closet
  • Rearranging my room
  • Baking
  • Trying new recipes
  • Meditation
  • Journaling
  • Making vision boards
  • Redoing my resume and professional portfolios
  • Studying ahead of time for finals
  • Reading

Other things you can do:

  • Start a blog/YouTube channel
  • Internship and job search for summer/fall
  • Clean your whole house
  • Do a chopped style challenge with your family and cook with random things in your fridge
  • Workout
  • Set long term goals and plan out how you will achieve them
  • Make a theme on your social media and make it look cute
  • Group facetime with all of your friends
  • Start a new creative hobby that has no purpose other than to make you happy
  • Call your grandparents
  • Write hand-written letters to all of your loved ones
  • Bake for your neighbors
  • Read that book you’ve been putting off
  • Self-care
  • Make a shirt for your cat or dog
  • Start a TikTok
  • Watch the top 50 most popular movies of all time
  • Have a themed dinner for your family
  • Housework
  • Reach out to see how you can help your community

  1. Hey! Great suggestions! I am trying to stay positive too and use this time to better myself, even though it is uncertain how long we’re going to be stuck inside for and it seems very overwhelming and daunting, at the same time, how many things does everyone always say they wish they had time to do? And now, suddenly, most people have the time to do them, so I want to try and make the most of this opportunity and do things I never have/make the time to do 🙂
